Tegel International Airport in Berlin is chiefly characterized by its location within the city. It’s circular terminal architecture saves passengers long walking distances. Tegel Airport will continue to be modernized and reconstructed, despite the plans building for the new international airport (BBI). Due to the opening of the new terminal C in 2009, the airport reached new margin as passenger-capacities are concerned. Not only the extension, but also the ongoing demand are reasons for Air Berlin's annunciation in 2010 of Berlin Tegel as the new hub for their company.
